Sometimes you need to disconnect...

Towed Battery Disconnect switch is designed to cut-off power flowing to the battery to avoid unauthorized use of your vehicle or unwanted battery consumption when not used for long periods of time. It is ideal for towed vehicles where the manufacturer required battery disconnect for flat towing. Also ideal for cars, boats, trucks, RVs and more. For use with Top-Post Style lead-acid batteries (6, 12 or 24 VDC). Connects to negative battery terminal only. Rated at 500 ampere surge and 125 ampere continuous at 12 volts. Easy to use. Battery is disconnected by unscrewing the green knob and reconnected by tightening the knob. It is made from a high-conductivity zinc alloy and brass plated to prevent corrosion.

Could not install. Didn't fit

It doesn't work on a 2019 Chevy Colorado. The stock negitive battery cable turns down 90 degrees and the switch cannot be installed.

Could be better.

Makes disconnecting the battery very easy. The problem was the disconnect screw worked its way back down during transport and made the connection again. The easy fix was to wrap tape around it to keep it in place

Towed Battery Disconnect

I installed this item in my 2016 GMC Canyon. I went through the procedure to flat tow my vehicle using the battery disconnect setting it up as required. Upon arriving at my location the screw portion of the battery disconnect had apparently jiggled/******* itself down and made contact which energize the vehicle. I realized this when I open the door and heard the chime that alert you that the key is in the ignition. In the future I will use a plastic wire tie to hold the screw portion from backing back down into the unit allowing the battery to be energized.

battery disconnect didn't work in my application

I really liked the concept- what could be simpler? However, for my 2012 chevy Colorado with 4 cylinder with stock battery and equipment, I could not close the hood. I ended up with a battery disconnect switch, which is a lot more money but it works. The switch is mounted on the fender adjacent to the firewall.
